Pollen Count Rises

With summer on its way we’re inevitably starting to see the pollen count rise. These coming few days sees a predicted ‘High’ rating across the south so dig out that stash of antihistamines you hid so well at the back of the bathroom cupboard over winter!

Met Office Pollen Forecast & Information

Asthma UK also notes the increased risk to people with Asthma.

Dr Samantha Walker, Director of Policy & Research at Asthma UK, says: “1 in 11 people in the UK have asthma and around 80% of them find that pollen makes their symptoms worse, so with high pollen counts forecast for the coming days this puts them at increased risk of a potentially life threatening asthma attack. If you have hay fever and asthma it is vital you use a steroid nasal spray every day together with non-drowsy antihistamine tablets as needed. You must also keep your reliever inhaler on you at all times too, just in case of an asthma attack.”
