Hosted by comedians and broadcasters Stephen Bailey and Zoe Lyons, prepare for a feast of fantastical fun, spectacular scenes and outrageous entertainment, streamed live on the YouTube, Twitch and the Brighton Pride website.
Marking 30 years of LGBTQ+ campaigning, protest and celebration, and raise essential funds for our LGBTQ+ community groups, We Are FABULOSO! will have an extensive schedule of events taking place over the original Pride dates of 31st July-2nd August. Audiences will be able to participate via Zoom and easily text to donate either £5 or £10 to benefit our registered charity partner, The Brighton Rainbow Fund, who distribute funds to LGBTQ+ and HIV organisations in Brighton and Hove.
As with every Brighton & Hove Pride, the day itself will kick off with a virtual LGBTQ+ Community Parade featuring a procession highlighting the amazing work and diversity of our essential community groups and charities. Having played host to world class artists like Nile Rodgers, Jess Glynne, Britney Spears, Kylie, the Pet Shop Boys, Years & Years and Grace Jones to name but a few, viewers will then be taken on a virtual tour of the Pride Festival in Preston Park site for a look back at exclusive archive footage, in addition to dropping in at all the stages and tents for performances from festival favourites Queertown, The Legends Cabaret Stage, The Glory, Queer in Brighton and more.
The Pride Soapbox show with Kathy Caton features interviews from local MPs Peter Kyle, Caroline Lucas, Lloyd Russell-Moyle as well as UK Black Pride’s Lady Phyll and other LGBTQ+ activists.
A host of online warm-up events and house parties to get you ready and in the mood for the big weekend will also be announced alongside the full schedule in the coming weeks.
Paul Kemp, Director of Brighton Pride said; “Brighton & Hove Pride is such an important community fundraiser for our LGBTQ+ groups and to not have a Pride event this year really affects our ability to raise these essential funds and could seriously jeopardise the future of some groups. We really hope everyone gets behind this fundraising effort.
“Brighton & Hove Pride is a time to come together to celebrate and embrace diversity and inclusion in our great city, and just because we are not able to meet in person doesn’t mean we can’t support and celebrate our fantastic LGBTQ+ communities.”
Our sole ethos is to promote respect within our community and support local charities and causes through fundraising. In the last six years we have raised over £920,000 for neighbouring charities, projects and community groups, distributed through The Brighton Rainbow Fund and Pride Social Impact Fund.
Please click to make a donation so Brighton & Hove Pride can continue its essential fundraising for our community organisations that provide so much support throughout the year.
