A Spellbinding Halloween at Borde Hill, 17th October – 1st November 2020
Halloween Half Term is the time for all apprentice witches and wizards to put their skills to the test to become a fully-fledged expert in magic. Ballimore the wizard has been practicing his spells, but has unfortunately turned his fellow wizard, Lumos, into a guinea pig! Can you help Ballimore by completing all the challenges on a story trail, discovering the magic word to turn Lumos back into a boy? On selected days, see Magica de Spell, the resident witch, in her lair and say the magic word to receive a prize. Put on your cloak, grab your broomstick, wave your wand and fly across to the ‘Borde Hill Academy of Witches of Wizards’. £3 per trail plus admission, to include a spellbinding prize (FREE to Friends).
There’s also a bewitching concoction of activities to keep young witches and wizards entertained throughout Half Term. On Sunday 25th children can model their own hoot-tastic owl from clay, on Monday 26th and Friday 30th get up close and personal and hold a scary, hairy, creepy crawly or snake. On Tuesday 27th and Saturday 31st why not come along and carve your own spooky pumpkin masterpiece to take home and on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th there will be the opportunity to get your hands dirty and make a monster mud creature or whittle your own magic wand*.
Why not make the most of being outdoors this autumn by joining our ‘Wilderness Camp’, a family bushcraft experience on Sunday 25th October. Woodland adventurers can try den building, fire lighting, camp cooking and outdoor games between 9.30am and 3.00pm**
If young witches and wizards are still bursting with energy, then the Adventure Playground is open with climbing frames, swings and a zip wire.
After all the excitement tired souls can revive their spirits at the Gardeners’ Retreat Café serving tasty snacks and warming drinks.
Visitors are also welcome to wander and enjoy the stunning hues of autumn with cornus, acers, liquidambar trees and deciduous azaleas, as well as wonderful views across the parkland featuring native and exotic trees.
