From animal magic to cruises, steam train rides to enchanting woods, a new guide highlights the Top Days Out in Wye Valley and Forest of Dean
The new Days Out Guide has been published by Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism showcasing some of the top things to do in the beautiful Wye Valley and Forest of Dean region, the Dean Wye.
The handbag size guide is packed with attractions, activities, shops and places to eat and drink, a fantastic range of Money Off vouchers, plus a handy fold out map.
The Dean Wye is home to an array of man-made and natural places suitable for family-orientated fun, explorations, relaxation or animal magic. On rainy days there’s plenty to do undercover from museums to caves, or how about a steam train ride through the forest or a leisurely cruise down the River Wye.
There are plenty of activities for adventure seekers who love cycling and mountain biking, underground tours or tree top climbs. A more sedate day out can take in cream tea, heritage site, sculpture trail or arts and crafts venues.
The region is a primary producer of top quality food and drink. Everything from cider, wine, artisan beer and cheeses, Gloucester Old Spot bacon and smoked Severn salmon, to organic juices and fresh vegetables.
The Wye Valley and Forest of Dean is the UK’s number one natural haven for adventure, culture, history and delicious food and drink. Featured in the Days Out Guide are just some of the many reasons for visitors to immerse themselves in an ancient land that boasts many contemporary twists.
Maureen McAllister, executive director of Wye Valley & Forest of Dean Tourism, commented: “The new Days Out Guide gives people plenty of exciting ideas for a memorable visit to the Dean Wye.
“Why not try your hand at archery? Or canoe down the River Wye? Explore caves, mines and ride behind a steam engine through the Forest. Then stop off at one of the award-winning restaurants, pubs or hotels for regional food prepared from local ingredients or go direct to the producers for a brewery tour or picnic in a cider orchard.”
