Arundel Castle to host Medieval Festival this Easter

Arundel Castle invites visitors to step back in time to 1216 and experience the joy of history at its upcoming Medieval Festival. The festival will take place from Good Friday 7th to Easter Sunday 9th April recreating the gathering of King John and his loyal followers to put down a rebellion and fend off a potential invasion from France.

Set within a large, tented encampment on the lower lawns of the castle, the three-day event offers a plethora of activities to immerse visitors of all ages in the medieval world. They can experience the thrill of axe throwing and archery, get creative in the craft tent, and witness combat, archery and falconry demonstrations. Children will even have the chance to participate in battles, making it a fun and interactive experience for the whole family.

In addition, there will be demonstrations in the encampment of pewter casting, forging, cooking, leather work, and more. Live music from medieval musicians Myal and Peg, and fire-eating performances from Whatapalaver will add to the festive atmosphere.

With a whole day of activities to enjoy, visitors can take a break at the Knights’ Table – serving delicious foods with a medieval twist and a range of drinks close to the encampment – or enjoy the Castle’s café, restaurant or tea terrace. Alternatively, they are welcome to enjoy their own picnics in the Castle grounds.

“This is a unique opportunity for visitors to witness history come to life at one of England’s most iconic castles,” said Andrew Lewis, Castle Manager at Arundel Castle. “We invite everyone to join us for a weekend of fun, education, and immersion in the medieval world.”
