Flamenco is a highly expressive Spanish dance form. It’s come from Andalucía (southern Spain). The song, dance, guitar and palmas (clapping) are blended together by the passionate rhythms of this breathtaking dance.
Flamenco classes are fun, relaxed and informal, often accompanied by a flamenco guitarist, also a great way to get in shape and have fun. It is a great way for children to work on their rhythm, balance and co-ordination.
Class: Madonna Dancing
Time: 6 – 7pm
Ages: 16+
The Madonna Dance Workout. Get fit, have fun, and make new friends, all to the music of the Queen of pop. Seriously fun and awfully cool.
Class: Cuban Salsa
Time: 6-7pm
Age: Adults
Brought to you by professional Salsara Natasha ‘La Piccolina’ Hubert and pro Cuban musician and dancer Yanel Eugenio, Bird Studios is hosting an introductory Salsa class for it’s forthcoming Cuban Salsa and Cocktails O’clock commencing Wednesday 20th May 8-10pm, continuing weekly. No previous experience or partner required, we’ll have even your left feet burning the floor with some cuban sabor!
Class: Kickboxing with Si Tompsett
Time: 7 – 8pm
Ages: All Ages
Taught by double British Champion Si Tompsett, this class will teach discipline, self defence, fitness and create confidence. Si has an amazing ability to push you harder than you have ever been pushed without ever feeling the desire to quit. His bellows of encouragement will leave you long after you have left the class. For us here at Bird Studios, probably the best martial arts class in the city.
Class: KiJu Tango with Kirsty Bennet
Time: 8-9pm
Ages: All Ages
Argentinian style tango with the immaculate Kirsty. You will learn to move like you have latin fire in your blood. Or just learn to dance really really well. The manager at the Studios takes this class and now, even though he was born with two and a half left feet, he can move himself around the dance floor without embarrassing himself. Great environment, great teacher and even better music. A trip to the pub usually ensues afterwards.
SATURDAY 16TH MAY

Stuart is one of Brighton’s finest children’s dance instructors. He takes the art of commercial/street dance and allows your little one to get ahold of it in a fun and invigorating way. Come and enjoy the fine coffee at the Bird Cafe while your child gets to grip with the classic street moves.
Class: Little Stage Academy
Time: 10:00am – 11:30am
Ages: 4 – 7 years
This program teaches the Holy Trinity ( Singing, Dancing & Acting) in a structrured and friendly enviroment. Taught by current industry professionals, this stage school develops basic drama skills as well as promoting social interaction and self-expression. We have had children come through our doors whom were intensely shy, and by the end of their first session were nattering away like little howler monkeys. We at the studios find it highly rewarding, and so will they.

Ages: 7 – 18 years
Focusing on the Holy Trinity (Singing, Dancing & Acting), this stage school is the best way for your child to express themselves and meet new friends. All the classes are taught by current industry professionals and the lessons are broken up into specified age groups. BSSA are putting on the musical ANNIE in the new term, and spaces are only available to BSSA students. BSSA has a unique relationship with BAM Talent Agency and in the recent past several students have been picked for film, television, commercial and theatre work. The most important thing, however, is that the kids get to spend time with people who can inspire them to do what they love to do.
SUNDAY 17TH MAY

Taught by Zoe Carter-Owen, these classes help hone children’s core strength, flexibility and (most importantly), attention span. These classes will give you children confidence in ways that they never thought possible. From this writer’s point of view, I wish my mother had put me into a class like this; yoga is amazing for adult bodies and minds. Besides, yoga is cool. Nobody hates being cool.
Class: Julie Green’s Mellow Sunday Yoga
Time: 10:30am – 12pm
Ages: All Ages
This class has a variety of relaxing and challenging postures, breathing techniques and meditation. All abilities are welcome from beginners to intermediate and you can leave feeling restored to set your week off with clarity and calm.
