Brighton dazzled by a night on the Las Vegas Strip with a charity Ball

400 guests were dazzled by a spectacular Vegas themed evening of food, fundraising and entertainment at the Hilton Brighton Metropole on Saturday (25 June 2022).

The Midsummer Ball is a charitable initiative which joins the forces of the Hilton Brighton Metropole along with four Sussex based charities that support local vulnerable people. Funds raised from the night will support the work of Chestnut Tree House, The Starr Trust, The Sussex Beacon and You Raise Me Up.

This year the contestants each represented one of the four featured charities and were asked to being the Las Vegas Strip to our stage. The contestants include: Panina Shepherd & Sam Thomas performing for The Sussex Beacon. Ian Poysden gave a singing performance to represent The Starr Trust, Paul Britton danced his way across the stage whilst representing The Chestnut Tree House. And finally, Phil Cameron & Leesa Pattison joined forces and performed on behalf of You Raise Me Up. All performers, stepped out of their comfort zones to raise money for each of these wonderful local charities.

The performers from the charities were supported by dancers from ICTheatre. Each performance was judged by Robin Cousins, Kim Ismay and Allison Ferns and Leesa Pattison (CEO of You Raise Me Up) and Phil Cameron was crowned as the 2022 winner. Between the seven entertainers raised over £38,000 for the fabulous charitable causes.

Money was raised on the night through a variety of fundraising initiatives, included a Wheel of Fortune, Heads or Tails game where ball goers tested their Las Vegas knowledge with the lucky winner staying at Hart Shoreditch Hotel London. There was also a Silent Auction for multiple prizes which included an auction for a Five Night Stay at Resorts World in Las Vegas

Rekha Sohun, General Manager of the Hilton Brighton Metropole, said  this is our annual event in the city and I am delighted to announce that next year again we will extend the same to support our nominated charities.  It has been enjoyable to work together on the Ball Committee over the past months to organize this evening.
