Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus are supporting international Purple Tuesday

Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus are supporting international Purple Tuesday by offering all disabled concessionary cardholders free travel to a plus one of their choice.

Purple Tuesday is dedicated to improving customer experience for disabled people by thinking about their needs, whether that’s catching public transport, visiting an art gallery, or going out for dinner.

Some concessionary cardholders will already have a plus one on their card (these cards say ‘+C’ on them). These passengers will be allowed to have two people travelling with them free on Purple Tuesday. Normal concessionary time restrictions will still apply.

Ed Wills, Managing Director at Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus said: “We’re extremely proud to partner with Possibility People in support of Purple Tuesday. For us, Purple Tuesday is about improving the customer experience for disabled people and continuing to generate and grow awareness of the value and needs of disabled passengers.”

“We work with numerous local groups when we design our services in order to make sure our buses are as accessible as possible. Everybody deserves to feel relaxed and confident while they travel, and to have the best passenger experience possible.”

Geraldine Des Moulins, Chief Executive of Possability People said: “About 20%[i] of the population are disabled. Being accessible makes good business sense and Purple Tuesday is an annual reminder that disabled people make an important contribution to the economy and the life of the city. Providing free travel for companions on Purple Tuesday is just one way Brighton and Hove Buses show commitment to making their services accessible, enabling us all to take part in what our great city can offer.”

Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus are offering free travel on all buses for any companion travelling with a Disabled Concessionary Card Holder. This offer applies on 1 November only.
