Brighton Racecourse Live’ is new series of live music events that kicks off this September with Human League and Marc Almond.
Brighton Racecourse Live is the new series of events taking place at the historic Brighton Racecourse, a stunning venue for live music, offering spectacular views across the city and the south coast. To kick off an on-going programme of top quality live music, Brighton Racecourse Live presents a big weekend of talent, as Human League and Marc Almond entertain with their global hits on Friday 8th September, while Hacienda Classical, Groove Armada and Stereo MCs take over on Saturday 9th September. Tickets are available for at www.brightonracecourselive.com, and to celebrate the launch the first 500 tickets are available at £37.50 per night. After that ticket prices are going to rise so move fast.
Brighton Racecourse is an iconic venue and remains one of the south coast’s most popular horse racing destinations. However, its hilltop location offering breath-taking views and the freshest sea air make it a special location for live music. Brighton Racecourse Live will bring a range of unforgettable live music events to Brighton, adding yet more to one of the UK’s most exciting and culturally rich cities.
Brighton Racecourse Marketing Manager, Grainne Bartholomew comments, “It’s amazing to welcome such HUGE guests up to the racecourse. This year we are only doing a small number of live music events so we are aiming to put on some epic shows and make these truly memorable.”
Also making a weekend to remember are 80’s legends, Human League. With million-selling #1 hits such as ‘Don’t you Want Me’ and ‘Human’, as well as classics including ‘(Keep Feeling) Fascination’ and ‘Mirror Man’, Human League have written themselves into music folklore, influencing everyone from Moby to the Pet Shop Boys. Always performing live, with no backing tapes, the Human League at Brighton Racecourse is not to be missed.
Supporting Human League is Marc Almond, an artist who, as part of Soft Cell, will always be remembered for tracks such as ‘Tainted Love’ and ‘Say Hello, Wave Goodbye’. With a string of hits and a reputation as a consummate live performer, Marc Almond will add to an amazing night’s entertainment.
Hacienda Classical is the perfect closing act for Brighton Racecourse Live. This sumptuous spectacle brings the Manchester Camerata, a hugely talented orchestra, together with DJs Graeme Park and Mike Pickering, two legends from the days of the Hacienda nightclub in Manchester. Together with special guests, this combination will bring to life new orchestral versions of the classic house tracks that made the Hacienda so instrumental in dance music culture.
One of the planet’s best loved dance acts, Groove Armada step up in support. Since their breakthrough hit ‘At The River’ Andy Cato and Tom Findlay have added million–selling albums, Grammy and Brit nominations and a pioneering live show to their reputation. With two decades at the top of electronic music they are the perfect accompaniment to Hacienda Classics.
Also a highlight on the lineup is the Brit Award winning Stereo MCs. Walking a line between the hip hop and acid house scenes, Stereo MCs enjoyed massive international success in the ‘90’s with their ‘Connected’ album. As relevant now as they ever were, they are a live act not to be missed. Get ready to dance!
