Brighton Run2Music invites children to try out Scootathlon on May 30th2020
This May, Brighton Run2Music on Madeira Drive will be including an extra race especially for children aged 3 – 8 years. The Scootathlon, which is already part of the Brighton and Hove Triathlon weekend, is now going to be included in the sister event Run2Music on Madeira Drive on Saturday 30 May.
John Lunt the Race Director said, “Brighton Run2Music lends itself to offer children a race too just like we do for the Brighton and Hove Triathlon. It’s fantastic seeing the really young ones taking part. Multi-sport such as Scootathlon requires multiple skills and encourages determination, but most importantly, it’s an extremely fun way to keep youngsters healthy and active. It is also great seeing them get so excited about racing with their friends”.
He continued, “We are expecting over 120 to race in the Scootathlon and be part of a great, family fun day out at Brighton Run2music”.
One of the parents whose son did the Scootathlon at the Triathlon said, “This was Jackson’s first multi-sport race at the age of 8. He had never had the opportunity before to do 3 sports in one and it was a real eye-opener for him. I couldn’t believe his competitive spirit. He has now found a passion for Triathlon and competed for the first time this year. I think it is a great idea to offer Scoothalon wherever the venue allows it as children have so much energy it is great to give them an outlet for it and keep them fit and active”.
2020 will be the third year for Run2Music which has grown exponentially in the last two years. In 2019, we saw over a thousand runners take part.
As a fully inclusive event, it offers a day of fancy dress fun, a live DJ playing music on speakers which line the course, dance acts and an entertaining warm up on the Brighton Run2Music stage, all whilst participants run 5k, 10k or 21k chip-timed.
Nikki Bowman, a 10k runner from Brighton said “I joined many running friends from run pals as it’s a local event and a great run where everyone can run and have fun, kids, buggy runners, walkers and speedy ones. I’m looking forward to racing again next year”.
