Brighton’s Big Screen

At the moment, open air cinema’s reminiscent of the 1950’s drive-thru’s seem to be all the rage, there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t see a Facebook event for a film screening somewhere. Call it a date night or a outing with friends, Brighton’s Big screen is increasing in popularity VERY fast.

Brighton's Big Screen

Press Release

Brighton’s Big Screen presented by ibis Hotels,  the UK largest beachfront cinema hosted its official launch event on Thursday 7th April 2016 at the ibis Brighton City Centre Hotel. Over 150 people including sponsors, supporters & celebrity guests, Ray Lewis, Brian Capron, Dolly Rocket & Frankie Cocozza attended the event to help celebrate the return of this year’s Brighton’s Big Screen event.

For the launch event, Brighton’s Big Screen & ibis Hotels transformed the ibis Brighton City Centre Hotel basement into a scene from a Hollywood red carpet event, to showcase some of this year’s new attractions, including the VIP ibis SweetBed experience. Ray Lewis from the Drifters also played an intimate set, ahead of his live performance at Brighton’s Big Screen on Saturday 18th June, just before Dirty Dancing. A night not to be missed!

This year’s hugely anticipated event looks set to take outdoor cinema viewing to a whole new level from the 10th June – 10th July 2016, showcasing some of the biggest recent box office hits including, Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, ‘Spectre’ & ‘Inside out’, plus top live sporting events including the Football in France & Wimbledon.

Special themed evenings & weekends, including an exclusive chance to meet the stars are also in the pipeline, along with a selection of amazing food & drink, courtesy of Pizzaface, Bagleman, Greedy Goat Ice Cream & Bondi beer.

Bill Murray, BBS Event Director quoted “In 2012 we thought we’d build a screen on Brighton Beach to show the Olympics. How hard could that be? We thought we’d get a thousand or so people to the launch event & we had over 20,000 people attend!! This year we’ve got Star Wars on the beach, the only outdoor cinema at this moment to be showing it. How good is that! With the football in France, it’s going to be a cracking year and incredible experience for us all to share”.

Situated on Brighton Beach next to the Pier and the Volks Railway, Brighton’s Big Screen presented by ibis Hotels, is one of Europe’s largest open-air cinemas. Expecting to attract over 100,000 attendees and voted in 2015 as one of the top ten outdoor screen events by Conde Nast Traveller & The Guardian, Brighton’s Big Screen 2016 looks set to provide the ultimate in open-air cinematic viewing experience.
