Cosmic Brainfart: An Immersive Adventure!
Escape room meets theatre in this immersive adventure through the human mind. Can you untangle the neurons, hack the hormones and survive the cosmic brainfart? We’ve all had to engage in some mental gymnastics to get through the last few years. Cosmic Brainfart is a show about how to maintain a vague semblance of sanity (and how to use the phrase ‘self-care’ without internally cringing). Let’s face it, with two-year waiting lists to see a head doctor, we’re going to need all the help we can get. Exclusively for the Brighton Fringe, this pop-up theatrical escape room will only be running in May 2022.
Nether Regions
Three years ago, punk theatre-makers 2headedpigeon discovered a hidden cellar beneath their very normal Brighton home. They turned it into an epic underground venue and staged ‘End Times: An Immersive Adventure’ (“A Hidden Gem” Fringe Review). Audiences loved the punk attitude of Nether Regions, and voted it Best Venue at the Brighton Fringe 2019. The cellar was supposed to be turned into a fancy living room in 2020, but the pandemic had other ideas… Nether Regions is back for May 2022 only, before the builders get started in the summer. For adventurous audiences who brave the journey off the beaten track, Nether Regions gives punters a unique opportunity to experience the true spirit of the fringe; rebellious, ambitious and peculiar!
2headedpigeon Theatre
2headedpigeon makes work that exists on the boundaries of clown, ‘punk theatre’ and live art. Their work is urgent, visceral and unruly. It is also often quite silly. Since 2006 they have been making award-winning theatre in lo-fi settings, aiming to challenge the corporate structures which surround mainstream theatre by putting on high quality work in unusual contexts. 2headedpigeon is the punk alter-ego of live artist (and local teacher) Sea Shucksmith. Their work often tampers with traditional expectations and explores the feeling of being “out of sync” with the world around them, drawing on their experiences of being both queer and neurodivergent. 2headedpigeon have been called, “More than you dare hope to find at the Fringe” (ThreeWeeks) and “Relentlessly inventive and recklessly funny” (WhatsOnStage). 2headedpigeon won the ThreeWeeks Editor’s Choice Award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2009 and Best Venue at the Brighton Fringe 2019.
