Culture website supports city’s arts recovery
Keep up to date with arts in the city and the latest resources for creative professionals at cultureinourcity.com.
The website enables everyone with an interest in arts and the creative industries to connect quickly across Brighton & Hove. Individuals and organisations can also submit local group or event information to be listed on the site.
There is a directory of funding opportunities for arts organisations and individuals as well as up to date information on the city’s recovery plan to help inform and support the sector through the pandemic and plan for a brighter future.
An opportunities section lists everything from jobs and commissions to training and free arts space.
Cultureinourcity.com includes an events directory, news blog, and answers to frequently asked questions put to the council’s arts team.
More than 500 people are now actively using the site every month following its launch last autumn.

Councillor Martin Osborne, co-chair of the Tourism, Equalities, Communities & Culture Committee, said: “The website is a ‘one stop shop’ to connect and support creative people in every part of the city through this challenging time.
“The pandemic has shown how important arts and culture are for mental health. Cultureinourcity.com is the place to find out what Brighton & Hove’s artists are doing and be part of the arts in lockdown.
“It’s been an exceptionally difficult time for people working in the arts, with many losing their incomes overnight because of the restrictions. This website is a reminder of the diverse talent in the city and why we need to nurture and protect the arts, which the city is proudly famous for.”
Cultureinourcity.com is a collaboration between Brighton & Hove City Council and the city’s Arts & Creative Industries Commission.
