Cutler and Gross | Christmas Gift Guide
British luxury eyewear brand Cutler and Gross launch new additions to their exclusive Colour Studio collection. Each season, our dedicated Colour Studio within our Atelier in the mountains of Northern Italy, selects premium acetates which are woven into the collection in strange and wonderful ways. The exclusive Colour Studio Editions are made on a single run of specially selected acetate, so once we have used the acetate in full, the colourway will not be reissued. The Colour Studio Edition happens twice a year, drawing
inspiration from our own extensive archive and current trends in art and design, appealing to the collectors of Cutler and Gross and colour connoisseurs.
Emerald Green a vividly pigmented gem-stone green which sits alongside Ink, an archive Cutler and Gross shade of deep midnight blue.
COLOUR STUDIO
Rendered in Emerald Green acetate, the cat-eye 9288 taps into the style of frame worn by the leading women of Hollywood’s golden age. The glossy limited-edition colour, available in both optical and sunglass oozes a sharp yet nostalgia-induced aesthetic.
The 9289 glasses are reminiscent of 1950s and 60s styles, worn by Rock Hudson, the tall, dark, and handsome Hollywood leading man. Constructed in Italy, it’s highly dark green acetate, contrasts with white veins and a light green spider web pattern.
Imbued with a retro aesthetic, the 9290 Optical invokes the spirit of Hollywood’s original heartthrob, James Dean, who was rarely photographed without his trademark rounded square glasses. A green marble acetate adorns the frontal, balanced by vivid cerulean Ink blue temples, this style is the perfect option to illustrate exotic beauty and exquisite luxury.
The 9926 sunglass owes its striking appearance to notable rock ‘n’ roll figures from the 50s & 60s such as Sammy Davis Jr and Roy Orbison. Being handcrafted in the mountainous landscapes of the Italian Dolomites, incited a penchant for bold forest greens and cobalt lake blues evoking mother nature. This collectible’s thick and glossy silhouette gives it a brooding finish.
Each frame is etched with a gold foil ‘Colour Studio’ script, intricately handwritten by our Creative Director, and stamped into the right temple.
