Day of the Dead: The Mesmerist x Cazcabel Tequila
On 2nd November it will be Day of the Dead (or Dia de los Muertos), the Mexican holiday where family and friends gather to remember those who have died and support them on their spiritual journey to the afterlife. It’s a day of celebration, as Mexicans believe death is simply a continuation of the life cycle.
They dress up in colourful costumes, paint their faces with sugar skulls and wear flower crowns, and there’s a carnival atmosphere across the country.
For Day of the Dead this year, The Mesmerist in Brighton are partnering with Cazcabel Tequila to host a La Loteria (Mexican bingo) event, along with a Cazcabel cocktail menu and lots of fun Mexican prizes. Best dressed wins a bottle of tequila!
There will be live music from The Black Kat Boppers, a grooving four piece group playing rockin’ roots music with guitar, double bass & stand up drums.
This will be followed by a DJ set from Soul Casserole bringing a spicy range of funky beats.Stax, Trojan, Motown, Blue Note, Zodiac, Chess and Loma Records. They also have a late night tendency to throw a blend of randomness into the pot; from Reggae to Ragga and Blues to Hip hop. Expect an unpretentious night of full speed funky beats!
There’ll also be candy skull face painting from the DMFA makeup academy, Wheel of Fortune, Midnight shows and more surprises.
It will run from 8pm-late and tickets are £5.
