Entries now open for Arundel to Eastbourne 100km race

Entries for the South Downs 100k 2022 are now open following the success of the inaugural event held on 30th May.


Athletes from all over the U.K congregated to take part in the first South Downs 100k race, held by UK Ultra Ltd.

Runners headed to the start line in Arundel, East Sussex to run the race which passes through the South Downs National Park and across some of the most beautiful countryside the UK has to offer. The course ensures participants accumulate over 8000 feet of climbing and descent, before finishing over the white chalk cliffs of Beachy Head in the lovely seaside town of Eastbourne.

Next year’s race, which is taking part on Sunday 29th May 2022 promises to return bigger and better. Athletes of all abilities from novice ultra runners to elite are invited to sign up to take on the challenge in what is hoped to become one of the classic U.K ultra races.

This year’s race had a prize purse of £5,250 for the top five men and women, with male winner James Turner from Brighton and Hove AC completing the course in an impressive 8 hours and 8 minutes. The female winner was Bethan Male from Arena 80 AC, completing the course in just over 9 hours 26 minutes.

Race organizer Neil Kirby said: “The turn out for this race was much better than we could have imagined with 200 athletes signing up for the race. I want to offer a huge congratulations not only to James and Bethan, but all of the athletes who took part and completed the race. It’s a fantastic course and one of the most scenic the country has to offer, we can’t wait for next year already!”
