EVERYONE’S TURF: NINE MUSIC NIGHTS CLOSE TO LONDON WITH SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE AT OVER 400 HORSERACING FIXTURES THIS SUMMER


he thrilling action will continue off the track into the long evenings this summer as the South East has nine electrifying Music Nights that will be taking place across five racecourses in June and July. These fantastic live music events are part of 29 total fixtures happening close to London.

A day at the races is the ultimate day out as racegoers can experience top sporting action and amazing musical acts all at one price.

A short distance away from London are these seven racecourses: Ascot, Epsom Downs, Kempton Park, Lingfield Park, Newbury, Sandown Park and Royal Windsor which are all easily accessible from London via public transport.

Many of the fixtures are evening races which makes them the perfect events to attend after work to relax with friends in a fun outdoors atmosphere and the fun doesn’t stop after racing ends, with each racecourse putting on music nights with a summer soundtrack to suit everyone.

DJ Sigala will be getting the crowd dancing as he will be performing his hits at Royal Windsor Racecourse’s Summer Festival on Saturday 25th June. The entertainment continues with a Summer Sounds event on Sunday 26th June followed by a Prosecco Party (Monday 27th June) all with more live music.

Epsom Downs Racecourse has four fabulous parties lined up all with a throwback theme. Starting with a Summer Nights 70s event on Thursday 30th June starting off the decades, followed by a Summer Nights 80s event on Thursday 7th July, then a Summer Nights 90s on Thursday 14th July and finally a Through the Decades party on Thursday 28th July with songs from the 80s, 90s and 00s.

Lingfield Park Racecourse kicks off the summer with a Rum and Reggae Racenight on Saturday 25th June. Feel the tropical vibes with Caribbean food, drink and entertainment. Later in the summer there will be a Ladies’ Day, a chic event for any fashion fan, including a Style Award with a £500 cash prize available as well as an ABBA tribute act performing.

Sandown Park, Newbury and Ascot Racecourses all have hugely exciting feature fixtures coming this summer as the Coral Eclipse Festival returns to Sandown (Friday 1st – Saturday 2nd July) while Newbury hosts the Wetherby’s Super Sprint Cup (Saturday 16th July) and Ascot will host the QIPCO King George Weekend (Friday 22nd – Saturday 23rd July). Racegoers should be prepared to witness the very best Flat racing, with the top talent from across the continent providing thrilling sporting action.

On top of the racing, the Wetherby’s Super Sprint Cup fixture at Newbury will be followed by a highly anticipated performance from Craig David set to make it a memorable night. Sandown Racecourse will also host musical entertainment throughout the summer with Paloma Faith performing live after racing (Saturday 20th July) as well as Nile Rogers & Chic (Wednesday 27th July). Both performers have song catalogues overflowing with hits to impress the crowds.

Whether dressing up or keeping it casual, a raceday with live music is a fantastic summer occasion.

To showcase all summer racing fixtures and the amazing entertainment they have on offer, Great British Racing has teamed up with TV presenter and former football star, Jermaine Jenas as part of the Everyone’s Turf campaign. See video here.

Jenas who has attended a number of racing fixtures said, “In addition to the unbeatable sporting spectacle, four racecourses close to London are putting on music after racing which is a fantastic way to get the most out of a summer day. There are some star names performing throughout the summer so it’s the perfect way to get friends together, sports fans or not.”

Jenas continued, “I am really excited to be part of Everyone’s Turf. The sporting action is second to none and the range of raceday experiences on offer is setting the benchmark for days out this summer.

“The stars of the sport, both jockeys and horses, put on a memorable show at every track and whether you’re taking your family, going with a group of friends for the music after racing, or you’re a foodie, you are going to have a fantastic day out.”

Chris Hughes, TV star and ITV Racing presenter, said, “Nothing matches the thrill of a day at the races and when you add in things such as amazing music acts playing live after racing, it makes it the ultimate summer day out.

“It is the perfect excuse to get a group of friends together and catch up, whether you’re cheering at the finish line or chatting over some delicious food and drink, it’s sure to provide some great memories.”

It is Everyone’s Turf this summer with more than 400 thrilling race meetings taking place across England, Scotland and Wales and a fixture in store for everyone between 21st June and 30th September.

Racing is Britain’s second largest spectator sport and encourages racing novices, avid sports fans and families to go outside and immerse themselves in the surprise and spectacle of a raceday. Set to a soundtrack of thundering hooves or DJ tunes, going to the races offers a day in the great outdoors with world class athletes at the centre of the action.
