FAR FROM HOME CLOSE TO LOVE
Brighton Fringe, May 25-27 at Presuming Ed’s
International award-winning actor Benjamin Kelm from Germany brings his personal story of his time in New York to the stage. In this poetic narrative with the title “Far From Home Close To Love”, he relates his impressions and experiences.
Having already lived in London, he was able to fulfill his next dream and that was to move to New York.
In Los Angeles he participated in the “World Championships of Performing Arts” and was not only honored with 7 awards, but also received a scholarship for the “New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts”.
During his studies he experienced a time like a roller coaster ride through “the city that never sleeps”, with all the ups and downs, joy and excitement, and laughs and screams.
He lived his dream, but it took a lot out of him. In addition to his apartment being broken into, two older men on the street violating his personal space, and the generally overwhelming quality of life in NYC, he also had to deal with the loneliness that came with being so far from home.
He was about to lose himself. But if it was the city that brought him to this point, it was also New York that let him find himself again.
“I will never forget that time,” says the actor, “It is still very close to my heart. That’s why I’m so happy that I can now put my story on stage at the Brighton Fringe to share it with people! This is the next step to have my solo play performed in New York one day.”
Accompany him on his emotional journey as well as vicariously experiencing the uniqueness of New York. The play will be performed May 25-27 at Presuming Ed’s.
And for those who want to see Benjamin Kelm on the big screen, the international short film “Tin Cans” starring him and actress Laura Sophie Helbig which was shot simultaneously in Germany and England, will soon be screened at film festivals in England.
