COOKING UP A STORM
The Sussex Young Chef of the Year Cook Off took place at the end of October at the Amex Stadium in Brighton.  Seven young chefs went head to head but only three could go through to become Grand Finalists and be invited to the Sussex Food and Drink Awards Banquet in January 2015 where the overall winner will be announced.

The chefs were asked to create a menu to be served at a special dinner for conference & business media as well as event bookers launching the Amex Stadium’s new seasonal, local menu and showcasing the superb catering offer at the stadium supporting local farmers and growers.

The budget for the ingredients for all three courses was £15 per person and the chefs had just 90 minutes to produce two plates of each course to present to the judges.

INDIA AND HOVE ARE ON THE MAP
Azaro and Hove are on the map! And on a national scale too. Following mass voting on Twitter and Facebook, Azaro in Hove has been voted as one of the best curry houses in the UK on The Hub Nation’s Favourite Curry Houses. We are delighted that one of our favourite restaurants in Brighton & Hove is up there, in good company alongside some of the UK’s most famous quality Indian restaurants, including those holding Michelin Awards.

Azaro is a high quality gluten free Indian restaurant. Keeping the menu simple and classy, Azaro doesn’t offer the mind-blowingly vast selection of curries that you often get in your local takeaway, but instead provide a smaller selection of superior dishes. Their ‘feel good food’ includes Indian platters, and there’s an overall feeling of genuine love and ‘Indian-ness’ about the place.

MEAT THE PORTER
[one_half]What could be better than the doorbell ringing and a delivery person handing you a beautifully wrapped, cool box of the most beautiful chilled meat cuts, fresh and pink? Not many things, that’s what. This month we discovered Meat Porter – a new online artisan delivery service that brings you amazing gourmet-quality meat to your own front door.[/one_half][one_half_last]meat-porter-box-cut[/one_half_last]

They go out of their way to source traditional, artisan cuts from producers who have won acclaim supplying top London restaurant kitchens and chefs, including some with Michelin stars. You can choose from ready selected boxes, make up your own, or go for the surprise selection, which is what we tried. In case you were interested, we got venison steaks, partridges, duck breasts and sausages and it was all awesome.
