Fun and Games at Borde Hill this summer

Fun and Games at Borde Hill this summer.

Entertainment comes in many forms at Borde Hill this August. The Garden is blooming – the roses and herbaceous borders are looking marvellous – and every Sunday afternoon throughout the month snatches of melody are once more being carried by the breeze. The performers for this year’s Musical Sundays are set to serenade visitors between 1pm – 3pm whilst they promenade around the Garden looking at this year’s Sculpture Trail, or relaxing with a picnic on the lawn.

Opening with its distinctive bright, mellow sound on the 6th August, the Brighton & Hove City Brass Band will perform a variety of well-loved pieces, followed on the 13th August by Blues/Rock in the form of The Smokin’ Joe Band. Actress and soloist Hannah Summers will be singing and swinging vintage Jazz on the 20th August, whilst Pavlos Carvalho and his Greek duet round off the month on the 27th August by whisking you away to an imaginary Taverna.

For younger family members, ‘Summer Fun’ commences in July and continues throughout August with outdoor games on the lawn (including Giant Jenga and Badminton), the Adventure Playground (featuring a zip wire, balance beams, swings and climbing frames) and the new and exciting ‘Alice in Wonderland’ Trail of puzzling riddles to be solved. Further activities on selected days include the chance for children to jump on board and journey around the Garden on Lennie the Landtrain on Saturday 22nd July, Face Painting on Monday 31st July, a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on Friday 11th August, comedy, magic and games on Tuesday 15th August and Tomfoolery on Weds 23rd August. Dogs are welcome on leads and Little Ritz Vintage Tea will be on hand throughout to serve refreshments in the Garden.
