Funk The Family Festival 2017 Sunday 18th June (Father’s Day)
Hove Park, Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, BN3 6LS
Following the huge success of the previous three years, Funk The Family Festival returns in 2017 on Father’s Day, Sunday 18th June, with a magical theme, “Mythical Creatures’.
FTF has successfully combined exceptional live music and DJs – Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B headlines the music line-up – with fantastic entertainment and FREE activities for all the family, plus a nursery care zone from local childcare provider Each Peach to entertain the under 5’s.
Accelerating from 1,000 attendees in the first year at Hove Lagoon in 2014 to 5000 attendees at Hove Park in 2016, the stunning all-day festival site celebrates its 4th annual event at Hove Park – the only festival currently located in these beautiful, tree-lined grounds – less than a 10-minute walk from Hove mainline railway station with easy access from London.
For 2017, Funk The Family falls on Father’s Day, making advance tickets the perfect present for much-loved papas. Married, single, in between… all family men love Funk The Family, and of course, the entire family is well catered for by an all-female team of local mums.
Festival founder Lucy ‘Elle J’ Small (former music journalist, now Brighton radio presenter and mother-of-two) and her team work all year to create two very special days drenched in good vibes, good music and good fun. Lucy says,
“Funk The Family Festival has succeeded by giving families a gorgeous, easily accessible day-time festival with exceptional music, food and activities, all without the hassle of camping.”
Musically, Funk The Family champions soul, funk, disco, hip hop, Latin, ska and reggae-related live and DJ music. A main outdoor stage presents live acts with the hugely popular Club Tropicana tent returning, plus the awe-inspiring Cirque du Funk Big Top Circus Tent that endlessly educates and amazes all ages. Past FTF music acts have included Soul II Soul, Norman Jay, Tru Thoughts artists, Omar, DJ Format, Basement Jaxx’s Vula, Russ Dewbury, Atlantic Horns, King Porter Stomp and many more.
