It’s All In The Detail

Lesley Taylor has invented a ground-breaking app that is set to modernise event photography

Lesley Taylor has always had an eye for detail.

The Sussex-based photographer runs a company called Infinity Photographic Ltd and has dedicated the last few years of her life to developing her ability with a camera and has always had a certain style about her work.

“I’m definitely someone who works in the background and documents the day,” she begins. “A documentarian if you like. It’s all about capturing people’s emotions and the little things; like the strap line on my flyer says ‘It’s all in the detail’.

“So yes I do the group shots that my clients want but the most important things for me are the bride wearing her mum’s earrings, an engagement ring delicately placed on the heel of your Jimmy Choo wedding shoe, the first ‘look’ at the end of the aisle. Memorable things so when my couples get their album, it’s like a story book from start to finish.”

However, the mum-of-three is regularly booked to photograph weddings and, during such an event, saw a missing detail in the occasion’s photography.

“I noticed a gap in the market for weddings that have disposable cameras, so I developed an app called Jaunty Twig. It’s basically a high-tech replacement for disposable cameras along with an electronic guest book and ten second video messaging.” explains Lesley.

“In a nutshell, people sit down at the wedding breakfast or arrive at the evening reception, download Jaunty Twig, put in a unique event code and then they start sharing pictures on the app which appear live at the venue after moderation on a large monitor or TV screen. It’s a fun, focal point at your wedding and it’s a live feed but from your guest’s perspective. The feedback since launching earlier this year has been phenomenal.”

“Unlike Instagram or Facebook, wedding couples receive a complete copy of everything for their social media, allowing them to make up a guest book, image and video montage,” she clarifies.

“Guests take pictures on their phones throughout weddings, so this is a great way of having an unplugged wedding ceremony, so, for example, asking your guests not to use their phones during your wedding and leaving it up to the professionals and most importantly, allowing your guests to enjoy the moment. You can tease your guests with a message close to your wedding date by asking them to download the app and that more will be revealed on the day.”

“I want to reassure other professional photographers that Jaunty Twig will never replace you! This is a fun app that enhances a guest’s experience but it’s not print quality. In fact, Jaunty can actually be hired and used by photographers across the UK at their own couple’s weddings.”

Jaunty Twig can be used for any number of events, not only weddings, and Lesley recently signed a five-week deal that will see her app used by guests attending the Brighton Big Screen from 12th June – 13th July.

The deal will allow people to share their photos and experiences with Jaunty Twig, seeing themselves live on the big screen during film breaks, with daily chances to win a pair of VIP tickets, and she is now readying herself for an explosion of interest.

“Jaunty’s scope is actually massive as it covers the entire event’s industry. Event codes are set up remotely for amongst others; photographers, virtual events, DJ’s, videographers, festivals, venues, gigs, exhibitions, event organisers and they run Jaunty Twig themselves. I’ve already got bookings for 2015!”

The hire of Jaunty Twig costs just £175 for a 3-hour period (ideal for either your wedding breakfast or evening reception) or £300 for 6 hours. Yearly, quarterly and monthly venue contracts are also available.
