Lighthouse Young Creatives present digital showcase
Today, participants of Lighthouse’s talent development programme are presenting a digital showcase, the culmination of 6 months of work. It is viewable now at lighthouse.org.uk.
Lighthouse Young Creatives (formerly Viral) is a project for 16-25 year olds who want to work in the creative and digital industries, but who don’t have the opportunities, facilities and connections they need. The project is for young people from diverse backgrounds, including those not in work or training.
Over six months the young people receive production training, business development, mentoring, showcasing opportunities and peer-to-peer support. The project focuses on a range of disciplines including music, film, photography and design. It also includes monthly ‘Open Session’ events, which are free and open to the public, where creative professionals share their career-defining moments and advice for getting started in a specific field.
This digital showcase was originally intended to be physically displayed in the Lighthouse building May 2020. This has been postponed due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
Lighthouse Young Creatives 2020 cohort is Adam Laurence, Caitlin Mackay, Erin James, Hayley Jones, Hazel Davis, Hoagy, METTE, Tiriôn Davies and Zach Hyland.

As part of the project, the participants are now awarded a year of desk space at the newly opened Plus X innovation hub to continue their practice and embed themselves in the creative community of the city.
