Brighton’s newest entertainment destination, Pier Nine, threw open its Art Deco doors on Saturday with a huge 24-hour launch party, featuring special guest Greg James from BBC Radio 1.

Over a thousand guests attended the launch to get a first look at what is quickly becoming one of the most exciting and unique additions to Brighton’s vibrant cultural scene. Among them were boxing champions David Haye and Chris Eubank Jr who found themselves competing for chips at the poker table.

Guests were met with complimentary fizz, delicious canapes and live music ranging from classical harpists and Balearic beats to post-modern jukebox bangers. Later in the day, Peaky Blinders’ own Packy Lee took to the stage to kick-start an evening of unmissable acts, all leading up to a showstopping 90-minute DJ set from headline act Greg James.

For those who prefer a game over a dance, the options were endless with Pier Nine’s state-of-the-art Slots Arcade, competitive games including Shuffleboard, Digipool, Foosball and eDarts and two brand-new casinos.

Bob Bowry, General Manager of Pier Nine Brighton, said: “The launch party on Saturday truly was a day and night to remember. It was fantastic to see so many people from the area turn up to enjoy everything that Pier Nine has to offer.

“Whether guests fancied releasing their inner Mariah with massaoke in The Den, trying their luck in the casino or sitting down for an intimate drink with friends over in the View Bar, there was something for everyone to enjoy. We’ve got a lot more in store for the people of Brighton, so watch this space.”

The £5.2 million transformation of the existing Grosvenor Casino Brighton into a vibrant leisure destination now known as Pier Nine was announced back in August 2019. Inspired by its Art Deco heritage, the stylish venue is set across three floors, giving customers access to stylish bars, modern eateries, two classic casinos, a range of fun and competitive games, as well as a private karaoke space to hire.
