Political drag-theatre comes to Brighton Fringe for two nights only.

Meet Polly. She doesn’t care what you think. All she wants is to be equal, for everyone to be equal. In an evening of hyper pop, gig-theatre, spoken word, and drag tomfoolery watch as Polly attempts to take over the government, no matter the cost. In a new version of the show that eviscerates the current state of politics, award-winning performer Joe Strickland tells a story as old as time; a story of power, corruption, and farting about in a dress.

“Embodiment of the radical potential of drag” (The Scotsman)

“A compelling, powerful piece that investigates political division and the nature of power in a whirlwind of a performance” (The Wee Review)

Polly: A Drag Rebellion is presented by Chronic Insanity, a Nottingham based theatre company that has taken the theatre world by storm since 2019 with their innovative and ambitious performing of 12 shows in 12 months using traditional, found, and digital spaces. This includes a host of digital theatre productions that have reached international audiences and received wide critical acclaim. Joe Strickland, the Artistic Director of the company and the performer in Polly, is a BBC New Creative and an artist in development with the Nottingham Playhouse and digital artist studio Near Now.
