Pop Up Hair Event Aims To Raise Funds For Brighton womens Centre

A LEADING Brighton salon has joined forces with Good Salon Guide to stage a one off hair event to celebrate International Women’s Day and raise funds for a local charity.

The pop-up event, in aid of the Brighton Women’s Centre, will see the award-winning team from Simon Webster Hair in Gardner Street, sharing home-styling tips and tricks to help create great hair looks. With experience working backstage at some of the country’s key fashion events, they will also recommend their top choice of products with the aim of buying less, but buying better.

There will also be advice from local leading fashion stylists and ethical design label, Zola Amour, about making more informed choices when it comes to clothes shopping. Since the screening of Brighton-based journalist, Stacey Dooley’s BBC Three show, Fashion’s Dirty Secrets, more women are moving away from fast, throw-away fashion and investing in key pieces that have lasing power!

The ethical side of beauty will also be represented by local brand WiDEYE who will be offering complimentary hand massages and nail polishing using a range of natural based products.

Sophie Webster, Partner and Manager of Simon Webster Hair, believes more women are now keen to make informed choices when buying.

She said: “The message that less is definitely more is resonating with women right now when it comes to clothes, make-up and hair.

“Our pop-up event, sponsored by Good Salon Guide, is a celebration of how all women can look good while respecting the environment and maintaining their own ethical standards. It’s not just about the impact on our surroundings, but the impact on our own well-being. And about making the choice to support local businesses with a progressive outlook.”

Jodie Withers, Editor of Good Salon Guide, opted to host the first ever Good Salon Guide pop-up in Brighton because she believes the city has strong credentials in supporting this growing trend in hair and fashion.

She added: “We love working with Simon and Sophie and their team at Simon Webster Hair. They have been pioneers in our industry in so many ways, that they were the obvious choice when it came to staging this event.

“It is also the best way to mark International Women’s Day and raise funds for a hugely valuable charity, Brighton Women’s Centre, that works so hard to support women in and around Brighton.”

Tickets for the event, which take place at the Hotel du Vin in Ship Street on Sunday March 10th from 3-5pm, cost just £15 and are available now via Eventbrite.
