Popular Brighton Jeweller, Kellerwood, Announces Unexpected Closure

The owners of much-loved jewellery boutique Kellerwood, located on Meeting House Lane, have unexpectedly announced that they intend to close the store for good, when they retire at the end of the summer. Although the imminent closure will undoubtedly leave many loyal customers shocked and disappointed; the well-known jewellers will be going out with a bang, as they launch a spectacular close-down sale which will start on Saturday 14 July. All stock including diamond jewellery, coloured stones and exquisite gold and platinum pieces, will be reduced by 50%.

Located in Brighton’s iconic, historic shopping district The Lanes, Kellerwood Jewellers has been part of the local retail scene for 32 years. Owners, husband and wife, Katrina and John Wood established the popular store in 1986, based on Katrina’s passion for jewellery.

The success of the store is testament to the couple’s hard work over many years; and they were later joined in the business by their son, Russell. When Kellerwood first opened, the store offered a very different proposition, and the transition to one of Brighton’s premier jewellery boutiques was fuelled by Katrina’s passion for high-quality jewellery and exquisite coloured stones. Said Katrina: “When we first opened the store we sold items such as silver thimbles for £1. Now we manufacture a variety of beautiful, bespoke jewellery in our workshop, including a selection of diamond rings, some of which are valued at £40,000+.”

Kellerwood was famously the first jewellers located in The Lanes to offered certified diamonds. Katrina is particularly proud of the store’s selection of rare coloured gemstones, many of which are highly-prized collectable pieces, the like of which are seldom seen on the high street. The collection, along with the rest of the store’s stock, will be greatly reduced when the close-down sale commences.

Said Katrina: “Deciding to close the store has been a very difficult decision and certainly not one that we have taken lightly. We have loved running the business and we have so many wonderful, loyal customers who have come to us over generations. We are going to miss the familiar faces and we feel incredibly lucky to be retiring with such fabulous memories.”

“Ultimately, timing was a key part in our decision; retirement was imminent, and the owners of the building were keen to do some redevelopment work; so, it felt like the right thing to do.”

When the store closes Katrina and John will be able to relax and enjoy their retirement. Son Russell, after a short break to spend time with his family, intends to source bespoke jewellery for private clients.

The Kellerwood close-down sale, which starts at 10am on Saturday 14 July, will offer customers a unique chance to walk away with the jewellery bargain of a lifetime. Savings of 50% will be available on all stock, including high-quality diamond rings, coloured stones, gold and platinum jewellery, necklaces, earrings and bracelets. The sale will last for a limited time.
