About Sandy Balls

Situated in the pretty village of Godshill in the New Forest, Sandy Balls has been welcoming holidaymakers since the 1930s. From its early days as a holiday escape in the forest, Sandy Balls now boasts a wide range of facilities and luxury accommodation for its guests to enjoy. These include: indoor and outdoor swimming pools; a spa; sauna and Jacuzzi; indoor soft play; an outdoor adventure playground; cycle centre; and horse-riding.

There’s also a choice of restaurants to experience including Aubrey’s, which serves up a tasty menu of pizza, pasta, meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, and the Woodside Inn, which has a great selection of pub grub complemented by a good wine list and some local real ales.  There’s plenty of activities for all the family to enjoy in the holiday village, including zorbing, archery, combat games and soccer school, while there’s also the opportunity to experience some wildlife encounters.

And for guests who decide to venture outside of Sandy Balls for the day, there’s a whole raft of attractions on the doorstep to explore, including Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu National Motor Museum, Peppa Pig World and the beaches of Bournemouth.

New owners

The luxury holiday village was recently acquired by pioneering UK holiday park operator Away Resorts, which now owns six resorts across England and Wales. This year, Away Resorts has transformed the humble caravan for the 21st century and is introducing the most innovative new concept in affordable family and group accommodation the UK market has seen in decades to the luxury New Forest holiday village this summer.

There will be one Tribeca with a private hot tub at Sandy Balls, which will be available to stay in from 21 July. Talking about the arrival of the new accommodation, Sandy Balls general manager Justin Hundley-Appleton said: “I am delighted that Sandy Balls will be able to offer its guests the very newest family accommodation available in the UK.

“I am proud that Sandy Balls has such a wide range of accommodation, from our camping and motorhome fields, safari tents and camping pods to our caravans and luxury lodges, so it’s exciting to say that we are now going to be able to offer the Tribeca, new accommodation that is at the forefront of transforming the way that people see caravan holidays.”

The Tribeca is the product of Away Resorts CEO Carl Castledine’s dream to revolutionise the way that people view caravan holidays. In fact, he has been looking for a unique concept that can do for caravanning what glamping has done for camping. Tribeca is the future of caravans. With the vision of Carl and the design expertise of holiday home manufacturers ABI, the Tribeca project has reinvented the humble caravan to create a solution for the modern family: a ground-breaking ‘boutique-style’ caravan.

Why is The Tribeca different?

It’s cool. The Tribeca has a New York loft-house apartment feel (hence the name), with industrial-style lighting and wall coverings, but with soft, plush furnishings. It has a central, light-filled, airy living space with the adults’ and children’s bedrooms either side. The open-plan kitchen and living area has an apartment feel: with timber-effect walls; a 55-inch screen; American-style fridge/freezer; and panoramic bifold doors.

The adults’ bedroom has boutique hotel features, such as a flatscreen TV, sumptuous bedding, and a stand-alone bath-tub, as well as a separate en suite. No other holiday park has any caravans like this in their fleet. The timber-effect walls and huge windows create a jungle feel and the astro-turf-inspired flooring carries on the theme of bringing the outside in. The Tribeca also has its own deck, for watching the world go by on, glass in hand, mind switched off, and and all have a private hot tub.
