Seiko – Richard Whitehead MBE named as Seiko Prospex UK Brand Ambassador
Richard Whitehead MBE, athlete and motivational speaker, was this year named as the Seiko Prospex UK Brand Ambassador.
A Multiple Gold Paralympic medallist with a double through-knee congenital amputation born and raised in Nottingham, Richard developed a passion for sport from an early age. Driven by a desire to compete as a professional athlete and push boundaries, Richard has set World Records for athletes with a double amputation in both the Full and Half Marathon categories. Throughout his career he has not only tackled the challenges of disability, but also the need to innovate and refocus his talent; ineligible to compete in a Paralympic Marathon on home soil in London’s 2012 Olympics he retrained and took home the gold medal and a new World Record in the T42 200m category.
The Seiko Prospex philosophy of ‘Keep Going Forward’ is one that Richard has always lived by; and it is the determination and attitude he brings to all aspects of both sport and life. “In sporting, mindset is really important. Physically you can be the best form of yourself, but not having the right mindset can really impact your performance. This is the case not only for within sport, but all aspects of life. For me, it’s about having achievable goals, being positive and having a smile on your face, but also making sure you are well prepared for any challenge ahead and making sure you have a really good tool kit that can be used in any situation.” – Richard Whitehead MBE
