Society announces Spring Live! 2021 event line-up

Government restrictions allowing, the renowned Spring Live! event at the South of England Showground is set to go ahead as planned this year on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th April.

Organised by the South of England Agricultural Society—a charity that showcases agriculture and other related land-based industries to the public, while funding and supporting education and countryside learning—the show has been deemed a ‘Good to Go’ venue by Visit England. Adhering to strict Covid-19 regulations, visitor numbers to the Showground will be restricted but Spring Live! will celebrate the great British outdoors this year more than ever.

The weekend event, which will run from 9am to 5pm each day, is set to feature live and interactive entertainment for all the family. There will be a multitude of shopping stalls including many gardening stands and a food hall jam-packed with mouth-watering artisan treats from independent producers.

Younger visitors can see a variety of farm animals and learn about them from their owners, take part in chocolate workshops, let loose at the funfair, and much more.

There are many elements of the show that the whole family are set to enjoy, whether that be the traditional countryside activities such as maypole dancing and axe throwing, or the informative yet hilarious sheep show, dog flyball demonstrations, circus workshops and the much loved Alpaca show and display.

Furthermore, for the first time in the show’s history, moving from the South of England Show, there will be a dedicated section on bees and honey. Here visitors can see some of the processes involved in ‘hive to jar’ such as construction of a hive, getting honey from the combs and making candles from the wax. There will also be plenty of bee & honey products from local and independent producers available to purchase across the weekend.

Corrie Ince, Show Director at The South of England Agricultural Society, commented:

“Spring Live! is an ideal way to celebrate the British countryside and the great outdoors. When the pandemic first hit the UK last year, and lockdowns were implemented, many people stopped and appreciated the countryside for the first time. This show brings many elements of the spring season together, supporting many independent and local businesses, and provides a great day out for the whole family – even the canine members.

“On behalf of the Society, I must stress that the safety and well-being of our guests and exhibitors is of utmost importance to us. Following successful socially distanced shows back in autumn and winter last year, we have again undertaken a strict assessment and, as an outdoor venue, with over 150 acres of event space, are still proud to be one of Visit Britain’s ‘Good to Go’ COVID-secure venues.”

For the protection of everyone at the event, tickets to Spring Live! 2021 will be limited and must be booked at www.seas.org.uk before arrival. Tickets cost £11.70 for adults, £9.90 for senior citizens/students (inclusive of 10% online discount until 16.04.21) – under 16s go free but there is a suggested donation of £1 for children. Dogs are welcome although they will not be admitted to indoor areas.
