SUSSEX BASED RIDER WINS AT HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW

Sussex based showjumper Michael Duffy had an incredible day last Saturday at The Horse Of The Year Show with a double win – first at the prestigious Grandstand Challenge Cup (pipping show jumping legend John Whittaker to the post) and then a win at the incredible Puissance event in the evening at the incredible height of 7ft1 (image below)

The Puissance is an adrenalin fuelled, highly skilled show jumping competition that tests how high horses can jump over special fences or walls.
The competition involves a maximum of five rounds – opening round followed by four jump-offs, not against the clock. The first round consists of four to six large single obstacles including the puissance wall, the starting height of which may vary from 1.70 to 1.80 m (5 ft 7 in to 5 ft 11 in) in height – Michael took the wall to an incredible 7ft1 and believes his horse could have gone higher….
