The Biscuit Barrel

The Biscuit Barrel

Award-winning* hyperactive sketch group brings 69 sketches in the space of an hour to Brighton Fringe.

Live comedy for the internet generation, Biscuit Barrel sits on the fast-forward button to ignite the ultimate comedy sugar-rush.

Debuting with the most sketches in a sketch show at the Edinburgh Fringe last year, Biscuit Barrel present an even naughtier 69 sketches in the space of an hour. This is the speed of the internet put on a stage.

“Fast, slick and very funny” ★★★★★ – The Derek Awards

(*Winner –  The Derek Special Merit Award 2018)

Maintaining a high standard of material at a neatly-trimmed length, this is live theatre that can compete with an online age, some sketches being as little as six seconds long. Mercilessly outrageous; always hyperactive.

With skits as assorted as the title would suggest, audiences can expect talking solar systems, totalitarian chat-up lines, and a barrel of one-liners.

“Saw this show and liked the high energy involved, reminded me of early Monty Python.” – audience reaction, courtesy of EdFringe.com.

The show was conceived by Alex Denley Spencer and James Horscroft, writing and performing alongside Capriella Hooper, Daryl Reader, Thomas House, and Zoë Quilter. The group was formed in Winchester, where they have been performing around the Hampshire area for two years. This will be their return to Brighton, having previously participated in the Brighton & Hove Grown Festival. Having grown up in Portslade, group leader James Horscroft looks forward The Biscuit Barrel to his hometown’s Fringe. Other previous appearances include Winchester Comedy Festival, Hat Fair Outdoor Festival, and even Theatre Royal Winchester’s Scratch Shakespeare Festival (Festival Winner – Thomas House, Best Male Actor).

Following this upcoming Brighton Fringe debut, Biscuit Barrel will be returning to the Edinburgh this summer at The Space on the Mile.
