The Eight Richest Football Clubs in the World
We all know that there is more money in football than we mere mortals can ever dream of possessing but, we can take a slice of it by betting on BTTS bets. The money that clubs rake in from ticket sales, merchandise, and broadcasting rights is astronomical. However, even in the world of plenty, there is a pecking order, and whilst most clubs are rich, some have an eye-watering amount of dosh in the bank. Join us as we take a look at the eight richest football clubs in the world.
8. Chelsea
Coming in at number eight on the list is Chelsea. With an average income of £403 million, the London club is amongst the richest in the Premier League, and the richest in the capital. Owned by billionaire Roman Abramovich, the club has enjoyed making some big signings over the last couple of seasons – although not all have been as successful as they may have hoped. Everyone at the club must be wondering where they went wrong with Salah. Based at Stamford Bridge, and attracting fans from around the world, Chelsea is a global brand with plenty of merchandising power. It has been a few seasons since they won the BPL, but with a recent change of manager, they are hoping for a change of fortune.
7.PSG
Many may have expected PSG to rank more highly on the list, but the club’s income of £465 million puts it in seventh place. With no shortage of big names, and now an experienced and exciting manager in Pochettino, the club is hoping to climb to bigger and better heights.
6. Man City
Looking set to be the only ones capable of winning the BPL this season, Man City has seen an astronomical rise as a club over the past few years. The big take over by what is now named the ‘City Football Group’ meant that a huge injection of cash allowed them to scoop up some of the world’s best players. There was a point at which the spending seemed out of control as the club signed some of the world’s biggest players only to use them as glorified benchwarmers match after match. Many objected to the club splashing the cash and many thought they had done nothing more than buy the title. With an income of £473 million, they can definitely afford it!
5. Liverpool
The current holders of the coveted BPL trophy find themselves ranked at number five with an income of £481 million. They have long been a club that enjoys a regular place in the BPL, but in the last five years, they have seen much improvement. The services of Klopp and the signing of Salah have both been important for the red half of the city, and they continue to be a global as well as domestic icon of the beautiful game.
4. Man Utd
Manchester United has long been the richest club in the BPL. Not only are they a well-known footballing team, but they are also a global and iconic brand. Go anywhere in the world and you will see someone wearing a Utd shirt. From the Busby Babes to Fergie’s Five and now the new breed of young players trying to make it work for Ole, there is no shortage of big names and big wins when it comes to the UK’s most well-known and richest club. Their annual income of £500 million will keep them at the top (of the financial league) for a long time to come.
3. Bayern Munich
With an income of £546 million, Bayern remain one of Europe’s wealthiest clubs. Their impressive records and star-studded squad serve them well as they challenge the strongest and most skilled clubs in Europe each season.
2. Real Madrid
Home to some of the most famous and expensive players in the world, Real Madrid is one of the most well-known and coveted clubs in the world. Their income of £615 million puts them in the second spot, just behind rivals Barca. The fans may have fallen out of love with their world-record signing, Gareth Bale, but they remain lovers of all things football, and the club and its owners are lovers are all things expensive.
1. Barcelona
The club at the top – with an income of £616 million – will be no surprise to anyone. With Messi as their talisman, there is no other club that has the presence and the glory of the world’s biggest and most wealthy.
