As someone who frequents bars and pubs regularly, and therefore somewhat dubious of alcohol free beverages, I was more than pleasantly surprised by the unique concept and excellent execution of this establishment.
From the moment I stepped inside, I could feel the lively energy and buzzing atmosphere that Torstigbar exudes. The bar boasts a Scandinavian-inspired look and feel, transporting visitors to a trendy spot reminiscent of Copenhagen. It’s no wonder the owners found inspiration in such a vibrant city. They have flawlessly captured the essence of a trendy bar while maintaining a welcoming ambience.
The highlight of Torstigbar is undeniably their mind-blowing selection of the finest low alcohol drinks sourced from all over the world. With a strict policy of not serving anything above 0.5% alcohol content, this bar truly caters to those looking for alternatives to traditional alcoholic beverages. The menu offers a tantalizing array of options, including cocktails, draft, bottled and canned beer, wine, mood-altering drinks, bar snacks, and delectable pizzas from the nearby popular vegan pizza restaurant Purezza.
As a cocktail enthusiast, I couldn’t resist sampling some of Torstigbar’s creations. The “Strandby,” their take on an espresso martini, was an absolute delight. The addition of date syrup provided a pleasant sweetness that didn’t overpower the coffee flavour. My partner opted for the “Lov,” a no-alcohol vodka-based peach flavoured cocktail garnished with popping candy, which added an element of fun to the experience.
One of the most intriguing offerings at Torstigbar are the mood-altering drinks crafted by Three Spirit. These innovative concoctions come in three distinct varieties, each with its own unique properties. Whether you’re looking to boost your mood and kick start a party, alleviate social anxiety, or wind down with a nightcap, Three Spirit has you covered. I personally tried the “Social Elixir” over ice, while my partner savoured the “Bliss,” a relaxing chocolatey CBD drink with a twist of orange. We both experienced the intended effects and were thoroughly impressed. I could feel my hangover subsiding and I became more chatty and energetic. My partner said she had the best night’s sleep ever that evening after drinking Bliss!
Torstigbar really surprised me with its huge selection of low and no alcohol alternatives, such as the Kohol 0 alcohol Whisky. Brewed with alcohol and then treated with an alcohol-digesting enzyme. This whisky provided a smooth and flavourful experience, albeit slightly sweeter than my usual preference. Additionally, I revisited the cocktail menu to sample the “Logstor,” a refreshing take on a dark and stormy, which had a rich whisky flavour with a minty twist. Meanwhile, my partner enjoyed a fizzy rose wine, perfect for relaxation.
The ambiance at Torstigbar is relaxed and inviting, with attentive staff who contribute to the overall positive experience. Catering for a diverse range of customers, including those who are sober curious, individuals in recovery, people supporting friends on their recovery journeys, those seeking a nightcap without additional alcohol, and even people nursing hangovers (thanks to the electrolyte-infused non-alcoholic beer they offer). The popularity of the alcohol-free movement is evident, and Torstigbar caters to this growing demand with an extensive drink selection that left us feeling virtuous when we left, knowing we indulged in fantastic drinks without the negative effects of excessive alcohol consumption.
