We Stand Together: Charity And Community Groups Make Up Two Thirds Of The Pride LGBTQ+ Community Parade

7th August, 2019 (Brighton)Marking 50 years since the Stonewall uprising, it was another fantastic year of celebration, campaigning and reflection for Brighton & Hove Pride and our community. Overall charities, and community groups made up two thirds of the parade alongside local businesses, the NHS and our invaluable blue light services as well as partners and sponsors celebrating their LGBTQ+ employee networks.

Our campaign this year is We Stand Together, a call to action for all in the LGBTQ+ community and allies to unite and stand together against all types of discrimination and to defend the advances in equality and inclusion over the last five decades, since Stonewall.

The LGBTQ+ Community Parade continued to be one of the undisputed highlights of the Brighton & Hove Pride Festival weekend and this year we had a record number of entries. A glorious showcase for the city, as always out charity partners The Brighton Rainbow Fund were at the head of the parade with representatives from our #WeStandTogether campaign to bring awareness to the alarming increase in attacks on our communities and to defend the progress that has been fought for over the past five decades.

As one of the biggest and brightest events in Brighton & Hove’s events calendar, over 300,000 people poured out onto the city’s streets to participate in and watch as the colourful carnival processed its way from the Hove Lawns to the Pride festival at Preston Park.

Brighton & Hove Pride is a time to come together to celebrate and embrace diversity and inclusion in our great city. Our sole ethos is to promote respect within our community and support local charities, causes and organisations through fundraising.

Pride would also like to express their thanks to the 300+ volunteers who gave their time and helped facilitate the safe delivery of the weekend events.
