WOLO Foundation announced as the winner of Sussex charity campaign

Sussex property lettings and management specialist PS&B is delighted to announce that the WOLO Foundation has been announced as the second winner of its community charity campaign.

The campaign—launched earlier this year to support Sussex charities, not-for-profit groups and services that have felt the devastating financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic—yet again received an incredible response from the public who nominated local charities and then voted for the winner.

The finalists were St Catherine’s Hospice, the WOLO Foundation, and Tyler’s Trust. With close to 500 votes from the public, and while every charity was a worthy winner, it was the WOLO Foundation that pipped the others to the winning post.

The WOLO Foundation helps families (with children under the age of 18 years) living in Sussex through their cancer journeys. It supports them by offering practical help and support to make their day-to-day lives easier such as child care, cleaning, gardening, health and wellbeing therapy sessions (for both adults and children), legal services such as Will writing, and complementary therapies to ease the side effects of treatment. The charity also offers opportunities for relaxation/pampering, memory making by supplying annual passes to local attractions/pantomimes/events, purchasing medical aids and much more.

Fler Wright, founder of The WOLO Foundation, was presented with a cheque for £500 by PS&B’s Director Michael Barber.  On winning, Fleur said:

“Having recently battled cancer myself, my husband and I wanted to help families going through similar experiences. We really found that there was a distinct lack of support available to us, so we created WOLO -We Only Live Once – offering practical help and support to families living in Sussex through their cancer journeys.

“Being awarded the £500 grant from PS&B is truly fantastic. It will enable us to support many families over the festive period and beyond with a whole wealth of services including physiotherapy, hypnotherapy, regular household help, acupuncture, counselling or food parcels. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for us – your support is very much appreciated and will make a huge difference.”

PS&B is now calling out to the public to nominate further causes for round three of their charity community campaign to win the next £500 donation. Each nomination must be for a Sussex based cause and should highlight the type of project, charity, group or service, details on what the £500 would be used for, and contact details for both the nominee and the nominator.

Nominations should be submitted to psandb@pmwcom.co.uk by midnight on Sunday 24th January 2021. Details of the top three nominations (as chosen PS&B) will be announced via PS&B’s Facebook page, giving the public the chance to vote for the project or cause they feel deserves the donation the most. The winner will be announced in February 2021.

“We are delighted that the WOLO Foundation has won our second £500 donation from our community charity campaign,” explained Michael Barber. “How the foundation brings the local communities, businesses, and services of Sussex together to help families in times of need is simply fantastic—a true testament of love thy neighbour from founders Fler and her husband Justin -– congratulations!

“Since launching this campaign, many people ask us the same question – what does a property lettings and management specialist have to do with charity support? The answer is honestly… nothing. Our board of directors simply got together, after seeing everyone going through a really horrible year due to the pandemic, and agreed that PS&B has been incredibly lucky as a business surviving nearly 200 years in the South East and wanted to give something back to others in the region. We want to help as many causes as we can ongoing so please do come forward with further nominations.”
