Zog and Peppa take centre stage at Brighton Dome family shows
Families looking for things to keep little people entertained over the spring school holidays can find a whole range of events at Brighton Dome.
During February half term, everyone’s favourite dragon,Zogtakes to the stage in a new adaption by Freckle Productions. Based on the bestselling children’s book by Julia Donaldson, the show features brand new songs and plenty of magical tales. Zog is the keenest dragon in school and eager to win a gold star but he’s also the most accident-prone. Princess Pearl steps in to help him get ready to face his biggest challenge yet, a duel with knight, Sir Gadabout the Great!
Making her big Brighton Dome debut, TV superstarPeppa Pigcomes to life with the musical story, Peppa Pig – My First Concert. Featuring a fun and interactive live performance, young children aged 18 months and above, will be delighted and amazed to see their favourite animated characters singing and dancing together on stage this Easter.
Aspiring actors are invited to audition for theNational Youth Theatre(NYT) this February. Young people aged 14-25 can take part in a three-hour workshop and perform a monologue with the chance to star in NYT’s West-End shows and productions. Those successful in the auditions at Brighton Dome will go on to take part in a summer course in London. See the performing arts stars of the future atLet’s Dance, the largest celebration of schools’ dance in the country. Young dancers from 78 schools, groups, universities and colleges in Brighton & Hove and the surrounding areas perform together on stage over four nights in March.
Children and young people 8 and above can benefit from free tickets to monthlyCoffee Concertswhen accompanied by an adult. Perfect for inspiring budding young musicians in the family, the concerts feature live chamber music on relaxed Sunday mornings, performed by some of the country’s leading artists including theHeath Quartetin January, Castalian Quartetin February and Aronowitz Ensemblein March at the Attenborough Centre for Creative Artsin Falmer. Parents can claim free children’s tickets when booking tickets.
